Has anyone visited any of the Christmas markets, particularly in France, Belgium and Germany? Which ones would you recommend, pref. within 2-3 hours train journey from Brussels?

Thanks for the links, abalada. Aachen and Cologne are the ones we were planning to see.

I’ve been to Cologne before, but what is Aachen like? Is it worth stopping?

Went a few years ago to the markets in Nurnberg, Rothenburg, Bamberg, and Mainz. It was fun. The one in Nurnberg is apparently one of the most famous and we really like the Lettem’ Sleep hostel, but Mainz impressed us as well. There was a small market by the train station and a much bigger one in town.

Nothing like a liitle Gluhwein on a cold night

I live in Antwerp and most people I know go to Cologne when they want to go to a christmas market. Antwerp has one too, but I’m sure it’s tiny in comparison.
