Hey guys,

Which Christmas markets have you been to in Germany/Austria and which ones would you recommend? I’m particularly interested in the following:

Cologne
Stuttgart
Munich
Nuremberg
Koblenz
Trier
Salzburg

Any suggestions?

I was recently in Austria and Germany and I noticed that Germany had amny more Christmas markets/stores than Austria. Rothenburg- felt like everyday was Christmas! One of the Christmas shops even had a Christmas museum. Nurnberg is known to have the largest Christmas market bringing in about 2 million ppl every Christmas!

I didn’t notice Munich or Salzburg being too Christmas market focused. Salzburg in particular was all about Mozart!

Koblenz – sucks – just junk.

Trier Market is nice enough but very small.

In that area, Ruedesheim and Mainz both have good markets.

Nuremberg is spectacular but very crowded these days, I understand. Have heard good things about Stuttgart but haven’t been.

Glad to hear that, as we’ve decided to skip those (purely due to timing constraints) and head for Bavaria instead.
