So now with the countdown to my trip to within the week.. it’s crunch time! I finally got to REI for a bag. They recommended http://www.rei.com/p… for me- and i bought it, but wonder if anyone has used it and how it went?
I will be in Europe for 1 month and staying with people and hostels. I am able to pack fairly light- figure two pairs of pants that zip off, 3 shirts, leggings, fleece, and an undershirt, undies, and quick dry socks, and a dress and separate pair of shoes, rain coat.
The bag separates and offers a day back, then it zips back on- he said it may fly as carry on for my flight to Europe, but not within Europe, and has easy lock access I guess.
If anyone has any feedback or has heard anything i’d love to hear!!!

I haven’t used that exact bag, but I have 4 Eagle Creek packs and they make top notch stuff. That pack has some nice features and is well-made, so unless you are concerned about costs and are thinking about returning it to get something cheaper I wouldn’t have any worries.
My experience is similar to augustin. I’ve carried an eagle creek brief case, which has back pack straps, almost daily for a dozen years. It’s been seriously used and abused including being checked as baggage a number of times. It shows absolutely no signs of wear and tear. It’s extremely comfortable as a backpack.
i actually had to bring it back, cuz when it was packed it came too far away from my back and pulled me backwards and i couldn’t turn in walkways.. so i got one where you can pack upward rather than outward by REI- hopefully it works out, if not.. then back to the store it goes when i get back.
thanks again for all help! I leave tomorrow for Providence airport,a nd actually sleep int he airport then depart to Europe on Monday early afternoon!
As it’s my first time, I’m incredibly excited to see friends again, europe, and also a bit nervous.. so hopefully from all the help here, and the tour books i have- hopefully all will be well.
Thanks for everything!
Have a good trip

i have the same bag. and i think you might already be gone, haha
and just used it 6 weeks in europe. I agree the price is high, but you get what you pay for. Great bag, i loved it. Got a bunch of compliments too actually, haha
the great part is how the front unzips to a daypack, reallyyyy helpful. Theres pretty much enough room in there for alot of stuff, just pack smart
and… between the daypack and regular bag are a few handy pockets to put anything important. If you have the bag you will see what i mean, safe spot
i packed MULT times for my trip, in mult bags, and ended up using the Voyage one.. and it did work out very very well.. I think I will use it mult more times, cuz i didn’t always pack the best, adn with first trip brought a lot I didn’t need… it was hard when i had to do flights, cuz i had mult bags, but in the end it was a great investment, only found some of the better features at the end of my trip haha…
