Well… almost. I’m heading across the country tonight via train, hanging with friends for a few days, then heading on my trip on the 12th. Just wanted to thank you guys for all the help, as usual. I don’t even know how much money I’ve saved on airplanes and train tickets and stuff over the last three years because of this board Smile

Final itinerary:

12 July: Flight to Dublin
13-15 July: Dublin
15-19 July: London
20-23 July: Berlin
23-26 July: Prague
26 July: Dresden
27-29 July: Interlaken/Gimmelwald
30 July: Hamburg
30 July- 3 August: Wacken Open Air Festival
3-5 Aug: Copenhagen
5-6 Aug: Celle (friend’s house)
6-10 Aug: Party.San Festival
10-12 Aug: Nürnberg
12-13 Aug: Sankt Goar/Rhein cruise (?)
13 Aug: Sankt Goar to Mainz, then on to Hahn Flughafen
14 Aug: Dublin, and back to the US

If I can’t post while I’m there, I’ll make sure to report back upon my return

EDIT: Modified the end of our trip!

Have a great trip! Can’t wait to hear about it when you get back!!!

Don’t forget that you can post a travelogue when you’re on the road.

Hey guys… still on the east coast, haven’t left yet… but we revised the tail end of our trip… now instead of staying in Tübingen, we’re going to stay up on the Rhine in Sankt Goar (near Rheinfels castle), which works out because it’s a fair bit closer to Hahn-Flughafen anyway. Coming up from Tübingen looked like it might end up being a pain in the ass, plus this way we’ll end up saving a day of travel, effectively, as we can just buy a 10 euro ticket out of pocket instead of using up a selectpass day (which solves the “Switzerland” problem I was having over on the transport forum.

Anyway, thanks for the travelogue suggestion Mim, I didn’t even know that existed. Smile

Cheers guys

Lucky, your going to Wacken Open Air festival!! I want to go so badly but I don’t leave until Aug. 14th and it ends like 2 weeks prior. Frown

Good news, I am going to Monsters of Rock in 10 hours!!

Hope you have a good time!

Post when you get back (when I leave), so I can hear how it was.

Well I’m back! These damn trips always seem to go so fast… I really wanted to do that travelogue deal, but I didn’t have internet access often enough over there to make it worthwhile.

I pretty much had a blast though, and only minimal troubles getting around and whatnot. I will say though, traveling with another human being is a little…. well I don’t really know the word Smile Not really “annoying”, but it can be something of a “chore” at times. Overall though, I think it made it a bit more enjoyable to actually walk around places with someone else….. when they…- ahem – feel like walking around

As for the festivals, well they were great of course Although, the smaller one (Party.San) was actually cooler than Wacken this year I think. Wacken is just getting gigantic, and I’m kinda afraid itll turn in to Europe’s version of Ozzfest, which is sad. Party.San however was amazing. Much smaller, so you can walk to the stage in about 3 minutes from your camp, no long lines, no running out of shirts, you can actually see the stage…... etc Smile Only downside was since there were fewer people, there weren’t all the goofy antics you see at Wacken by virtue of the sheer number of people there.
