Hi all,
I am going to study in Rome for a month and then a friend will be joining me for a backpacking trip throughout Europe. I want to introduce her to Europe the right way…does anyone know of any hostels in Rome that would be a really fun atmosphere, but still be safe for the two of us (20 yr old females). Thanks so much!

About three years ago, I stayed in the Traveler’s Hostel.  It was decent, nothing fancy.  But it had a pretty fun social area. They also offered a pub crawl.

Check out Yellow hostel. East of the Termini, but I stayed there for a week and I’m pretty sure I never slept. But I don’t really remember.

Hi tatiana,

I’ve heard good things about Yellow Hostel’s party scene but as two young girls I would avoid the Termini area – VERY dodgy after dark as all the homeless people sleep in and around the station.
There are plenty of hostels in Rome which have a lively atmosphere though, mostly because they are nearly always full at any time of year! But although there’s usually drinking in bars and cafés, clubs (like in much of Italy) and late-night venues tend to be way out of town and you have to drive there.
If it’s still sunny, you might want to try Village Roma which has cheap little chalets and a big bar/club and there is always plenty of partying going on here and young backpacker types enjoying themselves – plus there’s no worries about safety and getting back to your hostel late at night.

hope it helps!!!
