I’m looking into flying from Frankfurt- Barcelona via Ryanair (I know the airports are a distance..) I just am worried about booking my flight now, cuz my contact in Frankfurt may be in another part of Germany at the time…
Main question I guess is.. does Ryanair remain cheap up to the last minute? Or do they fill up pretty quick and begin to raise prices? My contact will know in 2-3 weeks if he will be in Frankfurt or not. Also my flight is for either the 3rd or 4th of Sept- is it something I could book upon arrival to Germany (sept 2nd) and still get a good deal? Or is it the earlier I book it the better?
Any feedback would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Jenn

It’s all pretty much a guess, but the conventional wisdom is to book early for the cheapest seats. There are usually only a limited number of seats available at the cheapest price, so when those sell out the price goes up. I certainly wouldn’t count on getting a good price two days before departure. I would book as soon as you know your friend’s location. You might post this on “cheap flights,” to see if you can more/better answers.
Given the distance between Frankfurt and Barcelona train is not a viable alternative. You can safely expect walk up fares on either Ryanair or any competitor to be sky high. Not sure what’s the ticket price at the moment. If it’s something like 50 Euro r/t now, you may try to chance it and book right away rather then having to pay up from 200 Euro later.
Fares for a ticket on that route tomorrow are still under 100 euros, which is still excellent. There’s no guarantee last-minute fares won’t be higher come September, but I figure demand would be higher now than when you’re flying. Feeling lucky?
I actually did Barcelona-Frankfurt by train in 2000 and yeah, it was a loooong journey.
that was seriously
the smallest space ive ever had sitting on an airplane.
i took up like 2 whole spaces for my legs
