Hey everyone, I’ve been backpacking before, but I’m planning a 2 week trip before I study in Copenhagen in Mid September. Here is a rough idea of a fairly straightforward itinerary. I would love some feedback of where to go in between, if anything should be cut out, etc. Its 2 guys and we like history, nice bars/pubs, art, scenery, etc.

Fly to Madrid – stay 3 nights
Madrid – Barcelona – 3 nights
Barcelona – Paris – 4 nights (probably overnight)
Paris – Brussles – 3 nights
fly to Copenhagen

I’ve been over lots of Europe before, but I am only repeating Paris, and I have been to Brugge in Belgium. The other guy has never been to Europe. Any advice is welcome.

  1. Fly to Madrid, 3-4 days, possible daytrip(s) to Segovia and/or Toledo
  2. Train to Barcelona, 2-3 days, possible daytrip to Cadaqués, Tarragona, or Torredembarra/Altafulla
  3. Train to Nîmes or Arles, 2-5 days, possible daytrip(s) to Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Sète, or Agde; or overnight sidetrip to Cannes, Antibes, Nice, or Fréjus
  4. Train to Paris, 1-2 days
  5. Train to Brussels, 2 days
  6. Fly to Copenhagen

Hi Will,

I just got back from a Busabout trip and I gotta say – I would recommend it to anyone. I did something really similar – I started in San Sebastian and went up to Berlin via Paris, Bruges and Amsterdam. The buses went through the cities every other day and it was really flexible. You just choose how long you want to spend in each city and book your seats. Too easy!
