Hey There
My husband and i are being completely spontaneous, or trying to be.
We are booking a flight to Munich (my aunt is there, so we have a free place to stay for that city) – leaving sometime between Sept 1-5 and doing a two week trip
The plan is land in there stay at my aunts and do a big loop, likely via train
the plan is to stop in Italy, possibly Paris up to Amsterdam and then back to Munich
1) any thoughts on stops along the way?
2) i know this has been asked many many times- but what about hostels – do i need to reserve way in advance?
3) are we being to ambitious for two weeks? Should we try to land in munich and maybe leave from amsterdam? or stick to a smaller section of europe. I want to make the most of this trip.
Thanks!

It’s completely up to you. Some like to do a straight line and leave somehwere else, others do a loop, it’s all preference. If it was me, I’d probably do a loop from Munich, to Salzburg, on to Hallstatt, then go to Venice, Ljubljana, then the Swiss Alps (Berner Oberland is amazing), and back to Munich. Some impossibly romantic scenery in this itinerary, and you won’t have any super long train rides.
But that’s just me.
I’ve personally never been that interested in Amsterdam, and you could probably spend like a week in Paris… the whole problem with planning trips is not to rush anything. But yeah, basically you just have to figure out what you’re interested in and just do it. I love mountains, old awesome buildings, and smaller villages…. hence my suggested itinerary
